Have you ever had a time in your life when you wanted to fit in by following the crowd?
Maybe it was being a part of the “in-crowd” in high school or the “cool kids” in your neighborhood. Maybe it was a certain group at church or an elite group at work.
The Bible tells us a multitude will be traveling on the road to hell while only a few will be traveling on the road to heaven.
Matthew 7:13-14 (NASB 1995)
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
As Christians, we are called to stand for Christ regardless of how many agree.
God warned the Israelites not to disregard what was right to “go along” with the crowd.
Exodus 23:2 (NASB 1995)
“You shall not follow the masses in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after a multitude in order to pervert justice;”
Currently, society normalizes things that are in direct defiance of God’s laws (lying, abortion, sexual perversion, etc.).
We must not be swayed to abandon God’s principles to appease the masses.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV)
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
Many false teachers have thousands of followers, sell a ton of books, and draw huge concert attendance. Their message may be popular, but fame doesn’t equal truth.
Be discerning.
Be wise.
Be vigilant.
Make sure those who influence you teach and live what is biblical. Most false teachings contain some element of truth, which is then twisted.
It’s easy to follow the crowd.
It takes work to study the Bible and courage to stand for what is right.
We must be diligent and stay close to the Savior so the enemy doesn’t use our apathy to draw us into the wrong crowd.
Dear Lord, I commit to follow you, even if none go with me.

Thank you. I needed to hear this as I set out to attend a church today for the first time after leaving my old one as an elderly person alone.
Amen! Love this. It reminds me of one of my favorite worship songs "No Turning Back" by Steffany Gretzinger. Thank you for sharing this!
