Thank you for these powerful words and their important application to our lives. Just to pursue this a little bit more, what commandments come to your mind when you think of Joshua‘s call to “keep his commandments”? Would it have been easier in the Jewish world before Jesus to readily identify the mitzvot to which Joshua alluded here? This is a question I’ve asked myself a few times, given Jesus’s call to respect the Torah while also saying it was fulfilled in him. Thank you for your thoughts.
Thanks for reading and commenting Federico. I appreciate your thoughtful question. When I think of "keep His commandments," I think of the 10 commandments Moses had given them. That is what comes to my mind.
I am inspired by Joshua's words shortly after the passage you refer to. (From memory so please forgive any errors) "Chose this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
So well said, Kate!! Thank you!

And thanks again for the energizing words from Joshua.

Yes Christy! That is one of my favorite Bible verses! I already wrote a devotional on that verse. https://katedreston.substack.com/p/everyone-must-choose-a-side?utm_source=publication-search
Such great reminders, thank you!
