this is a very Jewish thing to do actually, there's a reason they often repeat"...the God of Abraham, Isaac and ..." it's a reminder if he did those things for the Israelites, he will do them for us also
I did this when my father passed away. I felt like I was in the wilderness for months. It was complicated by dementia and his sudden anger towards me. I eventually decided to go back and listen to the messages again from my church, around that time. One was on the blessings of God. I wrote out all the blessings that happened around that time-some miraculous! In the end I had a page and one half and I could see that not only was God with me but he had carried me through. Right now, my daughter came home from 2 1/2 years on the street and using fentanyl. She is pregnant and her situation was so dire in December that I told God, I can't fix this. It's all in your hands. He orchestrated a situation and used people in a way that I never dreamed he could. After she was home, My mind began to race ahead to what would happen when the baby is born. I decided to go back and rest in what he had done. Today is her first day off the fentanyl. Praise God!
Rosemary - what a testimony! I am sorry about the loss of your father, I know that must have been so difficult (before and after his death). And your daughter, praise the Lord she is walking in the right direction, I know it will be a long journey, one that is walked one small step at a time. I pray she keeps on the right path for her and the baby. Praise God for your faith and trust in Him. Thank you for sharing so others can be blessed as well through your testimony!
I started a special journal like that months after my mother died suddenly in 2008. I between to write all the "hard" things and also the "good" things. There were always more "blessings" to be grateful for. Thanks for the reminder. I haven't written in that journal for over a year now.
I'm so sorry about your mother, I know that is very difficult. I like your list too! I got out my list today and looked at it. I needed to be reminded that hard times do not last forever. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, I appreciate that.
I enjoyed and agree with your list. God bless you for this!
I have a powerful tool to calm my anxieties about the trivial matters I tend to worry about. Twenty-one years ago, I lost my 25-year-old son unexpectedly, an experience that shattered my heart and plunged me into a deep, complicated grief. Yet, God guided me through that desert, leading me to a place of healing. Now, when I face worries, I reflect on that profound loss—nothing compares to losing my son. for me. This perspective or my “plumb line” helps me stay grounded, reminding me that as long as I trust and obey God, He will guide me through any situation.
I'm so sorry for your loss...I can't even understand how difficult that must be. Thank you for sharing your story. I appreciate you reading and commenting.
I'm glad you found it encouraging. I just got my list out the other day because I needed to be reminded how God will work things out - He always has. Blessings to you in this new year!
My Substack is called Joy Amidst Trials. It’s about ways to see God during the hard times in life through personal experiences. After reading the list you put in the post of things everyone should put on their list in their Bible, would you have an interest in guest writing? I’ve been offering it to anyone who has an interest in guest writing.
I've been blessed so much by hardship, that I was inspired to write a book on the subject. It is in editing. Hopefully it will be out in the next month or two. It is currently in editing.
God is good, all of the time. He is faithful and true. Nothing is too difficult for God.
When I am going through hard times, I've learned to look for what God is doing and what He is teaching me. It may not be immediately obvious, but I've always found it when I looked.
You are exactly right. Daily seeking God and reading His Word is a very important of our relationship with God! Thank you for reading and making the comment.
Isn't it amazing that, when we see the record of God's interventions and provisions on paper, our spirits receive a a much stronger uplift than just remembering in our minds? I discovered this too, years ago, and kept my list going. It's become a notebook of numerous pages! Our God is indeed gracious and merciful!

Pam, thanks so much for reading and taking the time to comment! I appreciate your thoughts.
Thank you for this reminder ❤️

Psalm 103 KJV
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.

Sounds good!👍🏻
Don’t feel the need to respond back any time soon. Just respond back whenever you feel like it.

That is very wise of you Christy! We all need to looking for what we can learn.
This is a great, actionable tactic that Christians can use to help bolster their faith in difficult times.
Love it!
Why you need to wait till times are hard? We should proactively tune in with God and his words even before calamity strikes!

Amen.
You are right, when we write them down, over time, we see there are pages and pages. God is always working!
That's a beautiful suggestion, Kate. Thank you. God has worked in so many incredible ways.
So true Noelle!
