If a person succeeded in living a perfect life except that they rejected Jesus as savior, that alone is sufficient to rightly send them to Hell.

Agreed. We don't understand how Holy God is, nor the wretchedness of sin.

Dr. Charles Stanley of In Touch Ministries explains: God doesn't "send" anyone to hell. We make that choice on our own.

If we spend a lifetime of saying, "I want nothing to do with you, God." God honors that choice. Unfortunately, there's only two options ... in His presence... or not.

Thank you for adding this comment. We make the choice. I don't know why anyone would choose to be out of His presence....

Unfortunately, too many believe they are the final authority in their life. I appreciate your comment ~ on my comment. :-)

Not enough people have the proper fear of God these days. The falsehood of everyone is going to heaven is being promoted. There are consequences to our actions but people want their sins accepted and validated.

People don't want to think about consequences to their actions.

Amen, Kate! Thanks for sharing the truth through your devotions. So often we want to lean towards one of God's attributes versus the other, so thanks for helping us know that our God is both a loving AND a just God.

My most viewed Bible study to date is on the characteristics of God as Judge: https://www.groundedinthebible.com/p/god-judge

As judge, God is the perfect balance of holy and just and righteous, patience and mercy and forgiveness, but also wrath and fire. He is holy and can't be in the presence of sin, he makes all decisions justly as judge, and he longs to extend forgiveness to all who call on the name of Jesus. But if we are not covered with the blood of Christ, he will display his wrath against sin. He will justly judge that we are sinners and deserve the punishment of eternal death. True belief in Christ is the only thing that can save us.

There is coming a day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. You lay it out plainly here, Kate, once again! 🙌
