How many times have we seen the headline that a famous person received no punishment even though the evidence pointed directly towards their obvious guilt?
Maybe they were set free due to a lawyer’s mistake, bribery, or the testimony of a lying witness.
Many have escaped earthly justice this way.
No one will escape the judgment of God.
Many times I write about God’s unfailing and unconditional love.
It’s because of this love that He judges us.
He hates sin. (Psalm 5:4)
There must be consequences for sin.
Chaos is all that remains when everyone does what is right in their own eyes and disobeys the law.
He knows the motives of our hearts and judges all of us fairly. (Proverbs 16:2)
Revelation speaks of His final judgment in Rev. 20:11-15. This displays God’s justice and the eternal consequences of our actions.
There will be no do-overs, bribes, or misunderstandings to escape justice.
God is never swayed; His determinations are perfect.
For many who have eluded judgment for their deeds on earth will one day receive their just punishment when they stand before God. He will right every wrong.
As Christians, we don’t have to live in fear of being sent to hell. But it doesn’t mean we can do anything we want because God will forgive us. We all are accountable for our deeds. (2 Corinthians 5:10)
If God is our Judge, how are Christians to live?
1 – We live in obedience.
God is the example of righteousness.
A reverent fear of God compels us to live a righteous life in accordance with biblical commands. (Proverbs 9:10)
2 – We live fully devoted to serving God.
While righteousness is received through faith, that’s not the end of the matter. We are to serve God with all of our hearts, minds, and souls. (Matthew 22:37)
3 – We live in humility.
While recognizing we can’t live a perfect life on our own, we ask God for help, strength, and forgiveness when we fall short.
Christians have been forgiven by God and will not face eternal damnation. (Romans 8:1) But Christians still face punishment for their actions on earth. Many times, we suffer the negative consequences of sin.
Conclusion
No one wants a wishy-washy judge to serve in our court system. We want one that rewards the innocent and punishes those who break the law. We appreciate a fair and honest judge.
God has provided a way for every man to be saved and avoid punishment. He has given us free will to make the choice whether or not to accept His salvation.
There are many who falsely believe God is too loving to send anyone to hell. This is not biblical. Don’t make this mistake. There is a real hell, and those who have not believed and put their faith in God will be sent there for eternity.

There is coming a day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. You lay it out plainly here, Kate, once again! 🙌
Amen, Kate! Thanks for sharing the truth through your devotions. So often we want to lean towards one of God's attributes versus the other, so thanks for helping us know that our God is both a loving AND a just God.
