A Beautiful Life is Made up of Ordinary Days
How everyday memories build a meaningful and worthwhile life.
Do you ever feel like your life is boring compared to your friends and family?
I know people whose jobs take them to interesting places around the world.
I have friends who take vacations to exotic locations.
I see those around me having date nights with fancy dinners followed by fun adventures.
Does it give you a FOMO (fear of missing out)?
It can make us wonder if our lives have much meaning and maybe we are just spinning our wheels.
The truth is, for most of us, daily schedules aren’t exciting and full of adventure.
Our lives are comprised of ordinary days running to the grocery store, taking the kids to soccer practice, helping someone to the doctor, or going to the same job year after year.
When we look back on the difficult years of raising children or watching our grandchildren grow up, we realize it wasn’t expensive trips or fancy parties that gave our lives value.
A beautiful life is made:
by living in obedience to God.
1 John 5:3 (NKJV) “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”
by loving the ones God places in our path.
John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”
by living a life of integrity.
Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.”
We shouldn’t waste time wishing our lives were more exhilarating. We should spend our time appreciating what we have and living a life that is pleasing to God.
As you go about your day, I challenge you to see the mundane things in a new way. These daily memories are building for you a beautiful life, one ordinary day at a time.
“He who follows righteousness and mercy Finds life, righteousness, and honor.” Proverbs 21:21
Hi Kate, this was such a great post! I really liked the Bible verse you included at the end there. It truly embodies that being thankful for what we have, even the smaller things, is what helps build our kingdom in heaven. I’ve also been working a lot at having more faith in God in general instead of getting scared and letting the Devil win. Your newsletter is awesome by the way! Just subscribed!
What an encouragement to live out our beautiful life. Thank you.
