My foot tapped the floor as I listened to one of my favorite hymns during the special music time at church. One of our members sang a duet with her mother, who was visiting from Poland. They sang “There is Power in the Blood” in Polish.
It was very moving because we didn’t need to speak Polish to understand the song's message.
There is something unique about the bond all Christians share, regardless of their language or country of origin.
I spoke to the mother in English (the only language I speak) after the service. Even though her mother and I couldn’t understand each other's words, we undoubtedly knew we were sisters in Christ.
While many long for a deep connection with others, Christians share this bond with people they’ve never even met.
I’m not sure if many churches still sing the classic song “Family of God,” written by Bill & Gloria Gaither.
Growing up, our church sang it often.
The song speaks about Christians being brothers and sisters in God’s family because all believers are His children.
The only requirement to be in this family is to know Jesus as your personal Savior.
“For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body…”
1 Corinthians 12:13a (NKJV)
It’s nice to be a part of a loving church family, but even if you aren’t, you’re still part of the worldwide Christian family.
Being a part of the family of God connects our hearts and souls.
Fellow Christians understand and agree Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.
We share the most precious gifts: undeserved forgiveness, hope of eternal life, and incomparable peace.
We rejoice together in our victories and cry in our trials. (Romans 12:15)
I am so grateful to be your Christian sister.
In this family, there is always room for one more.

I have that feeling of family with a friend of mine’s father. I can’t speak Amharic but just have that sense with him…
We'll said sister Kate! 👍🏼
