“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)
Have you experienced a winter ice storm?
I saw pictures from a storm in Michigan this winter. A few inches of ice had built up on the tree limbs resulting in significant damage.
During these storms, the ice accumulates and quickly becomes too heavy causing branches to break. In some cases, the tree splits at the trunk toppling it over.
It made me sad when I saw them drooping under the weight making them look weak and on the verge of collapse.
We all have times we feel weighted down by life’s problems. The ice covers our souls breaking our spirits.
God offers hope!
“If I say, ‘My foot slips,’ Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up.”
Psalm 94:18
If we trust in Him, His love will support us during the storms in our life. We were not meant to carry the burdens ourselves.
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:6-7
What burden is weighing you down today? Turn it over to the Lord. Rest in His strength, not your own.
Also,
Isaiah 46:3, 4
[3] “Listen to me, O house of Jacob,
who have been borne by me from before your birth,
carried from the womb;
[4] even to your old age I am he,
and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save. (ESV)
