As Christians, it is our honor and duty to serve God by serving others.
It is not a chore or an inconvenience but a privilege.
He can use each of us in big and small ways through the talents and abilities He’s given us.
It’s easy to compare ourselves with other Christians and see how we fall short.
For example, we might feel inadequate compared to a missionary in Africa’s orphanages or an evangelist leading hundreds to salvation each year.
After all, it’s easy to think, “What could I possibly do for God?”
Truth is, most of us are just ordinary people living busy lives trying to balance everything.
When doing something kind for someone else, ordinary people do extraordinary things.
Loving our neighbor is one of God’s commands.
Luke 10:27 (ESV) “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
There is no need for an elaborate plan; here are three ways God can use you today:
Bring encouragement (see Galatians 6:2)
Send a “thinking of you” or a “get well” card/text/email
Give someone a compliment (friend or stranger)
Make a phone call just to ask someone how things are going in their life
Meet a physical need (Philippians 2:1-4)
Cook a meal (or grab takeout) for a sick friend
Help an elderly neighbor repair a broken fence
Mow a yard for a friend recovering from surgery
Intercede in prayer (James 5:16)
Pray for someone who’s sick
Pray for someone’s salvation
Pray for your pastor
Conclusion
The enemy wants us to think we don’t have any talent God can use.
God’s calling us to shine His light into a very dark world.
I challenge you to find one way to honor God by serving someone else today.
