Ever Seen a Bird Having a Nervous Breakdown?
Anxiety and worry can slowly drain the life out of you.
If you have been adulting for any length of time, you are familiar with stress.
A million things can happen to throw you off your game.
For example, you are coasting down life’s road when out of nowhere:
Your mom calls to tell you she has cancer
Your boss says they have to lay you off
Your teenage son decides to no longer attend church
It seems life is always throwing us curve balls. These unexpected things can send us down a road of worry and anxiety.
“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6: 26 (NKJV)
The Bible says to look at birds as an example of trusting God. After all, have you ever seen a bird having a nervous breakdown?
If you think about it, they have their share of unknowns:
They never know where their next meal is coming from
They never know for sure whether the bird staring back at them is a reflection in the glass or a real enemy they need to attack (Ouch!)
They never know when, out of nowhere, a cat is going to put a death grip on them
Birds don’t worry about worst-case scenarios; they just follow their instincts.
It doesn’t mean God makes everything easy. It doesn’t mean all our problems get solved the way we want.
Telling someone not to worry is easy; not worrying is hard.
God says He will never leave us and will see us through anything. (For more scripture: Psalm 55:22, Psalm 37:25, James 4:7-8)
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” Matthew 6:25
What has you worried today? Ask God to help you give it over to Him.
Soooo needed to hear this today. I'm sure I look just like that bird with the frizzled hair!!
