3 Lies Satan Uses to Throw Christians off Their Game
Scripture is the best weapon against lies.
Our minds process hundreds of thoughts throughout the day.
Some of them are true; some are lies.
Scripture says it’s important to test the spirits to see where the voice in your head is coming from:
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
1 John 4:1 (NKJV)
Anything that goes against scripture is not from God.
Satan uses these three common lies to make a Christian stumble:
1. “God doesn’t love you because you are unlovable.”
We know this doesn’t come from God because the Bible tells us God loved us before we even knew Him.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
He knew every sin we would commit, and He still went to the cross for us.
2. “You are a failure. You claim to be a Christian, but you mess up all the time.”
No one in the Bible was perfect except for Jesus. Imperfection does not equal failure.
The Apostle Paul wrote,
“For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do,
that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.”
Romans 7:15
Even after we are saved, sin will continue to be a struggle until we reach heaven. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we aspire to grow in our faith.
3. “Maybe you’re not even saved.”
Satan wants us to doubt. If we think our salvation depends on our actions, we will never be good enough.
The Bible explains salvation comes through faith alone and in Christ alone.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9
Conclusion
Always test what you are thinking against scripture.
If scripture doesn’t support your thoughts, they aren’t coming from God.
The Bible contains God’s truth. It is the foundation of a Christian’s life.
Read it.
Learn it.
Memorize it.
Cherish it.
BTW, "failure" is an event, not a person. I recently learned this - God is gracious to keep teaching us even when we get old!
I enjoyed this reminder, Kate. It arrived just when I needed it.
